Jonathan Kua is Senior Vice President & Head of Group Sustainability at ST Engineering. In this role, he leads the Group’s efforts in Sustainability, working with the leadership across its diverse Business Areas and Business Units worldwide. These include integrating ESG considerations into ST Engineering’s business strategy and operations, as well as mobilising leadership and staff towards sustainability outcomes. He joined ST Engineering as Senior Vice President, Technology Planning in 2018 and subsequently served in Strategy Planning and Strategic Partnerships roles.
Prior to this, Kua was Group Director, Industry Development at Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology, and Research (A*STAR), leading a team of >150 science-centric business development managers, and brokering 1,500-2,000 research collaborations and technology development projects with companies annually. During his 6 years in A*STAR, he was also concurrently Director, Biomedical Sciences Industry Partnership Office, a multi-agency unit in Singapore supporting collaborations in translational medicine.
Kua started his career in the Singapore Economic Development Board, and served for 16 years – including 2 stints in the USA. He has engaged with many companies and organisations across a wide range of industries/sectors and geographies – including electronics, info-communications, robotics & automation, aerospace, manufacturing equipment, advanced materials & chemicals, consumer products, natural resources, inter-governmental & non-profit organisations, and education services.
Kua graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA) with a MSc and BSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering (summa cum laude).
