His senior academic leadership roles include NUS Vice-President (Research Strategy); Dean of NUS Faculty of Engineering; Director of NUS Enterprise; Founding Chairman of Solar Energy Institute of Singapore; Founding Director of NUS Bioengineering Initiative; Founding Director of NUS Nanoscience & Nanotechnology Initiative, and Founder of the Global Engineering Deans Council (GEDC).
He has been named among the World’s Most Influential Minds (Thomson Reuters). He is a Highly Cited Researcher with 207 H-Index and over 202,500 citations. He received a PhD from the University of Cambridge, UK, and TGMP from Harvard University, USA. He also received advanced research experiences at MIT and Johns Hopkins University, USA and KIT, Japan.
He is an elected Fellow | Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering; UK Royal Academy of Engineering (FREng); Singapore Academy of Engineering, Singapore; Indian National Academy of Engineering; ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology; and International Academy of Engineering and Technology. He is also an elected Fellow of AAAS, ASM International, ASME, AIMBE, USA; IMechE and IoM3, UK; ISTE, India; IES, Singapore and IUBSE (FBSE).
He is a point of contact for the Singapore Ministry of Sustainability and Environment (MSE) on the circular economy competency and skillsets. He is a member of Singapore Standardisation Program WG on Circular Economy.

Suzy believes businesses have a responsibility to do good in the world as well as make a profit and she specializes in developing and executing strategies and campaigns to help them do so. Building on a 20year career in strategic communications at the highest level (15 of them spent in Asia), the last eight years has seen Suzy focused on growing her experience in sustainability, ESG and social impact, working with some of the world’s biggest brands to help drive positive change inside and outside organizations.
Suzy has worked with Unilever brands on advocacy strategies, NGO partnership and behaviour change programmes; with Danone brands on brand purpose development and capacity building; with Epson on SDG prioritization, NGO partnership strategy and employee engagement. Suzy’s role at MSL and Publicis Groupe is to build capacity around sustainability across the Groupe, provide senior level client counsel on sustainability issues and to help drive corporate sustainable change at Publicis.

Loh Yew Chiong

Mr Loh Yew Chiong joined Singapore Polytechnic in 1996 as a lecturer in the School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, after working as a software engineer for 3 years. He is currently appointed as Deputy Principal (Academic). His responsibilities include providing strategic directions and leadership for the academic schools and programmes, including industry collaborations, academic functions, pedagogies, and quality systems. He is currently co-leading a 5-polytechnic project in providing useful student learning analytics and information to all academic staff.
Mr Loh had taught various courses like Network Security, Broadband Communications, Digital Communications, Networks and Protocols, Programming and other professional industry certification courses. He was also involved in various staff and student R&D projects related to Next Generation Networks and Services.
Mr Loh holds a Bachelor of Engineering (1st Class Hons) from the National University of Singapore and a Master of Science with Distinction (Communications and Signal Processing) from the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, UK. He was awarded the R&D Commendation Award in 2004 and 2009, and the Excellence in R&D Award in 2013 by Singapore Polytechnic. He was conferred the National Day Award - Public Administration Medal (Silver) in 2018.

Kate Drews is the Regional Head for Australia and New Zealand for Surbana Jurong Group, a global consultancy company that delivers sustainable solutions covering the entire project life cycle from planning and design, through to delivery and management, as well as a full suite of multidisciplinary consultancy services across a diverse range of sectors including transportation, water, aviation, healthcare, hospitality and renewables.
With more than 25 years’ experience in the property, construction and infrastructure sectors, Kate is a senior executive and company director. She is the Chair of the Sustainability Global Council of Excellence which involves catalysing the transition to a regenerative future for clients and within the SJ Group.
Kate is a well-respected voice in the industry and is sought after for her leadership insights and strategic and commercial acumen and knowledge. She has considerable experience delivering complex infrastructure for public and private sector clients including private, Commonwealth and State Government projects in the property, energy, transport, Defence, aviation and justice sectors.
Kate is an Executive Director on the Boards of Surbana Jurong Holdings Australia, SMEC Australia and Robert Bird group Australia. She is an independent Non Executive Director on the Board of Powerlink Queensland and is the President of the Queensland Military Historical Society.

Karina has worked in environmental engineering and impact for 20 years in Asia and global roles, from in-field implementation and programme management to policy, corporate ESG and financing.
Prior to helming Nandina REM, Karina was most recently the Managing Director of Nandina Partners, a firm dedicated to removing 30 per cent of emissions from
Southeast Asian supply chains, where she worked with investors to accelerate deploying capital for cleantech and clean energy project financing.
Karina also demonstrates deep experience in environmental liability and proactive risk management in her work with Shell International, where she was responsible for implementing sustainable remediation technologies across 19 markets. She was also the Director of Investments at Circulate Capital, the world’s first investment fund purely dedicated to preventing ocean plastic waste, where she developed and delivered their strategic agenda for circular economy investing, including the creation of their impact measurement framework.
Karina has extensive experience in building strategic relationships with commercial, government and regulatory entities to deliver complex technical projects. She has received industry and regulatory awards for delivering the world’s first freely available open source software application for interpreting groundwater monitoring data, GWSDAT, as well as establishing Africa’s first contaminated land knowledge exchange network, NICOLA, and integrating social performance indicators into environmental risk management programmes - published under the ISO 18504 protocol.

Violet Chen is the Director for Energy Capabilities Development Department at the Energy Market Authority (EMA). Through her work in the Energy Capabilities Development Department, Violet aims to build a flexible and responsive energy system that leverages on battery energy storage systems, demand response and smart grids to support the energy transition. She also leads efforts that build a future-ready energy workforce to capture new opportunities in green jobs and skills.
Prior to her current appointment, Violet held roles in the Policy and Planning, External Relations departments in EMA. She was also with the International Energy Agency (IEA) in 2012 and contributed to that year’s World Energy Outlook (WEO).
Violet graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.
